JUNON develops environmental data, digital tools and innovative services to help regional stakeholders better understand, characterise, predict and manage natural resources.

Drawing on environmental digital twins, artificial intelligence and field observations, the programme provides solutions for local authorities, public institutions, businesses, consultancy firms and research organisations.

Our services focus on three main areas.

Providing data and tools to improve environmental characterisation and prediction

JUNON develops and provides environmental data, digital models and analytical tools to:

  • Better characterise natural environments;
  • Monitor changes over time;
  • Simulate different management scenarios;
  • Anticipate the impacts of climate change and land-use developments.

These resources help improve our understanding of local environments and support informed decision-making.

Supporting the development of digital twins in other regions

The expertise gained through JUNON can be used to support other environmental digital twin projects.

The programme offers project owner support and advisory services to help project leaders:

  • Define their data strategy;
  • Design the architecture of a digital twin;
  • Identify suitable modelling methods;
  • Establish governance structures and define potential applications.

This support enables other projects to benefit from JUNON's experience while taking into account the specific characteristics and needs of each region.

Supporting the development of innovative digital solutions

JUNON is developing a technical and methodological framework to facilitate the design, deployment and operation of digital solutions based on artificial intelligence and environmental data.

Drawing in particular on MLOps practices, the programme aims to support its partners in developing robust, reproducible and scalable digital services tailored to the challenges of natural resource management.

Evénement JUNON

To facilitate the transfer of innovations to regional stakeholders, JUNON draws on the expertise of Aquanova, Technopole d'Orléans and AgreenTech Valley. Acting as a bridge between academia and the socio-economic sector, these partners help the programme identify user needs, structure its service offering and develop collaborations with future users.

Coordinated by Aquanova, this initiative aims to strengthen the programme's socio-economic impact, encourage the development of new services and support the practical application of research findings.

Examples of applications

The technologies developed through JUNON have the potential to address a wide range of environmental challenges:

  • Anticipate changes in water resources and drought risks;
  • Monitor and assess water quality and the impact of pollution reduction measures;
  • Better understand the factors contributing to air pollution episodes;
  • Analyse the role of wetlands in carbon storage, biodiversity and water regulation;
  • Compare different land-use planning and natural resource management scenarios;
  • Support local authorities, resource managers and businesses in their decision-making.

These examples illustrate the potential of environmental digital twins to improve our understanding of interactions between natural environments and human activities, helping to support more informed and sustainable decisions.
